The daffodils and tulips are up, the grass is green, and everyone is sneezing thanks to allergy season.  It has been extremely busy at Capabilities and at the Day Hab.  Tonia tells me that they are pretty much at full capacity.  Right now we have Tonia, Donnie, Kathy, Mike, and Wayne working at the day hab.  I have been blissfully busy at work so I haven’t gotten out to the day hab lately.  I have a full case load, my fourth grand baby was born a little over a week ago, and a vacation to Las Vegas this coming weekend.  I will be back rejuvenated and hopefully with a few extra dollars in my pocket.

We are a little disappointed that we didn’t get more applications back for the scholarship we set up.  Hopefully we will get more in.  I know Tonia has a lot of fun activities planned for this summer.  I am hoping to see her this week to get more information on how things are going and any new news from the day hab.

Hi everyone,

More changes are in the works.  Currently we have had three applications returned for the scholarship program.  Hopefully with the warming weather trend we will receive more.  We are also rebuilding the garage.  The contractor has been picked and the contract signed.  I believe they will start the tear-down within the next week or so.  The day hab is just about at full capacity now.  We have three full-time people and two part-time or subs working there.  Tonia had a little adventure last week ,as she always does.  Apparently the day hab team took the members to the movies which is about a half hour from here and somehow when they all went in to Subway to get lunch, just before the movie, the van got locked with the keys still inside and no one there had a spare key.  Luckily we had one here at the office so we were able to get a spare key to Tonia while everyone else was inside enjoying the movie.  I think this is the third or fourth time Tonia has done this over the years I have known her.  I am looking into getting her a fashionable necklace to put all of her spare keys on…  Seriously, everyone is thriving out at the day hab and they are really working on healthy living.  They have purchased a scale and they are monitoring their weight (boy am I glad I don’t go there).  I can’t say enough good things about the Tonia, Donnie, and Kathy.  They are dealing with constant changes every day and yet they never complain and always have a great attitude.  THANK YOU LADIES!

Hi Everybody,

We finally set up the scholarship fund and put together our application.  We are so excited about putting this together.  This morning I e-mailed all of the Case Managers in our area this application.  I can’t wait to start receiving them back.  I have talked to several case managers and they are interested in our scholarship program.

Not only are we working on our trips with the scholarship applicants but we are working on some additional healthy living presentations, speakers, and trips.  Some of our ideas include trips to the health food store, having a personal trainer visit, and a rehabilitation engineer help us come up with better ways to exercise with some of our more immobile members.  Now all I have to do is get them scheduled!

Thanks for your continued support everyone!

Hi everyone!

We are fortunately expanding again.  We added another new employee recently.  His name is Mike Dzalamanow.  He is driving for us in the morning and will be our substitute too.  We are excited to have him starting this week.  Mike already knows the ropes at Capabilities.  He has worked as a driver’s ed instructor for three years.  He plans on dividing his time here and as an instructor.  He is going to fit in well out here!

Now that the weather has broke a little, we are starting to get out.  We have already visited a local museum and we have two other museum tours scheduled.      We are starting to plan our “warm weather” trips too.  We have a thearputic equestrian program that we plan to visit, an authentic Indian village, and zoos.

Everything has just been going great out here.  We couldn’t ask for a better place to spend our days.  All of the members seem to be succeeding in their fitness, health, and socialization goals.  We are continuing to loose weight and are feeling great!

Hi Everyone,

We have been snowed in for what seems like a year, but actually it has been a little over a week.  We had two major storms come through and since we live in the flat lands the drifting is horrible.  That being said there hasn’t been too much going on at the Country Club.  I will be meeting with my employer about setting up the scholarship money for the CC members so that once the weather clears they can start participating in some fun adventures.  I just want to give a shout-out to Larry who has kept the Country Club driveway maintained in this weather.  Thanks Larry!  As am hoping to get an update today from Tonia on any upcoming events they have (if Mother Nature cooperates).

Hello everyone! We are so close to being done with the ramp project!  There are only a small number of things to be done.  The walls have been primered, the trim has been painted, and the siding is on.  I will send pictures shortly.  Our weather has not cooperated as much as we would like.  We are so happy with it.  It is warm, sheltered, and even pretty!  We are super excited to use the carport this spring and summer.  I think it is going to be a great place for us to “perch”, play some games, and get some fresh air.  Cabin fever has set in for sure!  We are trying to get out as much as possible though.  We have planned to visit some museums and go see a movie this month.

Have a great February!

I stopped by to meet our newest employee, Kathy and found everyone getting ready for lunch.  Kathy was hired part-time in December and will most likely be working full-time in March due to the continued growth of the Country Club.  Kathy used to work at Auglaize Industries but stated while she enjoyed the work she enjoys this more as it is more one-on-one interaction rather than a group setting.  Kathy has two 19 year old twin boys and a 17 year old son, so it is obvious that she is well equipped to multi-task!  Glad to have you aboard Kathy.

Today everyone was busy getting ready for lunch.  Here are some pictures of Tonia, Donnie, Kathy and our members.

Hi Everyone – here are some of our Country Club members enjoy themselves.  There are fields trips to the Y, boating on the lake this past summer and a Christmas trip to a dinner theater in Dayton.  Everyone is excited about this new year and the possibilities it will bring.  As you can see, I think Carla is ready to join the Rockettes.  We have grown so much that we have hired another assistant to work at the Country Club and I will be posting a picture of her and a little bio on her soon.   Lisa

Here are our newest pictures of construction. Over Christmas break we did the drywall and the ramp inside.  We still need to do the finishing touches…so we are in the home stretch!  Thanks for all of your support!
